"During a short vacation in Cancun, our baby suddenly cried nonstop for almost 30 minutes and appeared to be in significant discomfort, even showing signs of choking. As first-time parents facing a medical emergency in a foreign country, we were extremely anxious and rushed to this hospital. We were incredibly fortunate to be treated by this doctor Dra Dulce Navarrete. She took exceptional care of our baby, performing a very thorough and careful examination, checking every possible aspect with great patience and attention to detail. She ultimately diagnosed our baby with acute otitis media (an ear infection) and clearly explained the condition and next steps. What truly moved us was not only her medical expertise, but also her professionalism, compassion, and calm reassurance. She guided us through the entire process, made sure we understood everything, and followed up with us very carefully afterward. Her dedication and kindness made an overwhelming situation feel manageable and safe. This was our baby’s first emergency visit, and being away from home made it even more frightening. Thanks to her outstanding care, we felt supported and confident that our child was in the best hands. We are deeply grateful and would highly recommend her to anyone needing medical care, especially families with young children."

"On January 1st, while flying to Mexico, I broke my leg on board a plane. It was an open fracture of my right tibia and fibula, and torn ligaments in my ankle. I was admitted to Amerimed Hospital. I sincerely thank the hospital staff for their care and the excellent debridement and bone reduction procedures, including the use of a titanium plate. I would especially like to thank the surgeons, Dr. Fernando Ortiz Romero and Juan Miguel Olguin, for their professionalism, courtesy, and communication skills, as well as the always friendly and optimistic anesthesiologist, Dr. Lorena Rojas. I also sincerely thank all the very kind and helpful nurses for their care. Thanks to all of you, I can recover quickly. From a medical perspective, the hospital is an excellent, highly professional facility, worth recommending to anyone. The only major unpleasant experience I encountered was from an administrative representative who, despite having a written guarantee of reimbursement from my insurance company, initially denied me the right to treatment, demanding payment upfront. If there's anything in this hospital that needs to be replaced, it's this man. I recommend the board consider this. Tomasz Janiszewski P.S. - added on 21.01.2026: A change in rating. Medically, the hospital is excellent; administratively, it's just the opposite. The hospital promised to refund the deposit within 15 days. It didn't."

"I had an excellent experience at Amerimed. The staff was kind and attentive, always making sure I felt comfortable and informed. What impressed me the most was how quickly they responded to my needs and how well they coordinated as a team. The hospital is spotless and modern, and the doctors inspired a lot of trust with their professionalism. I truly felt cared for and would not hesitate to recommend Amerimed to anyone in need of medical attention"

"Absolutely extorts money from people. I was already in Mexico and my husband brought my son a day later, my son was very out of it and had a high fever when he got off of the plane, my husband chose to bring him to the emergency room, they said in order to see our son my husband needed to pay $1200 (US dollars), my husband agreed because he was scared for our son. They gave him Tylenol and the doctor looked at his throat, touched his stomach, and looked at his throat. I then arrived at the hospital and was told my son has strep throat, a bacterial infection on the liver, kidney, and heart and had croup cough (which he had had for a week in a half before coming here). I then asked the doctor did you do a test to confirm strep and do tests for the bacterial infection, the doctor said no that will cost $8,000 more dollars and he has to stay over night. I said ok, can he get a strep test and a nebulizer treatment included with the cost on what my husband paid? And the doctor said for me to ask the front so I did and they said yes that is included. (All of the people I spoke to spoke English) So the nurses started the nebulizer and started an IV and I said wait I didn't ask for that is it more money? They said oh no, it's included in the cost and my husband thought he did need it because the doctor told him he was dehydrated. So I let them and then they started drawing blood, I said wait is this included? They said yes the doctor told us to. So I let them. They then came back and said we can't do a strep test here, I said that's fine but then they tried to do a COVID test and I told them no we just got one 2 days before getting on the plane so he's negative. Finally, we were waiting for the 6 HOUR IV to be done and after an hour in a half they said we need to pay $1200 more to finish the IV, my husband said ok we are done. We asked the front desk to call a taxi for us and they said we just need to finalize your bill. I thought that was weird when the guy at the front finished I had to pay almost $700 more, I argued because that was the guy I asked about everything being included in the initial cost and he said no and I said why did you lie then? We had to pay or we couldn't leave there was security. If you have to go to this hospital please record everything they say, I am so upset I didn't because we got extorted out of a lot of money. Last thing, they lied about the original $1200 deposit my husband put down, it ended up being $1750. There were some other American tourists there too and the ladies husband fell and broke 4 ribs and punctured a lung, she needed to pay $17,000 just so they could help him temporarily, they needed $20,000 more for the surgery. This place only likes steal people's money not help anyone. My son ended up only with croup cough when he got back to the US, our clinic couldn't believe they were trying to lie like that."

"Our experience as parents of a small child under care of this hospital is similar to other reviews here. The care was incompetent and designed to extract money. Our three-year-old developed croup one night and the hotel doctor recommended we take him to the hospital for treatment with racine epinipherine. Upon arrival, the staff administered a different medication without telling us and without taking vital signs. They then said our son needed a chest x-ray. A pediatrician told us the x-ray showed mucus in our son’s lungs and that he needed to be admitted for two days to receive IV antibiotics. I pushed back because our son had no fever and no symptoms to indicate an infection. The doctor ordered an IV and blood test, then left. I’m a former EMT and was horrified at what happened next. Two nurses attempted to start an IV on our son’s right hand — they missed the vein, but continued probing while he screamed. Blood dripped from the port and they unsuccessfully attempted to catch a few drops in test tubes. They had no gauze pads at hand, so they squeezed alcohol from prep pads and tried using those to absorb the blood from the wound. Then they moved to the other hand to try again. I had to stop and tell one of the nurses to put on gloves. They also missed this time, but insisted on trying to flush the line with saline. Because they missed the vein, our son’s hand started to swell as the saline flowed through the catheter into his hand as he screamed in pain. Our son now had two wounds in his hands and no IV. IV’s are a common procedure that can cause significant complications if not done correctly (infection, introduction of an air bubble, etc). I simply cannot believe the level of incompetence I see from not one, not two, but three staff at this hospital. At this point they took a break. Another staffer brought admissions paperwork for us to sign and I refused. Our son’s symptoms were improving by that point thanks to the dexamethasone administered by the hotel doctor. He fell asleep hard and the stridor faded. No one came back to check vitals during our stay and he was never on a monitor. In the midst of all this a man dressed in a black suit kept coming back for more money. He had us make a MXN$30,000 payment, followed by an additional MXN$150,000 deposit for continued treatment. Another nurse came by to give our son a Covid test (again, with no symptoms). I had to be very direct and tell them we were leaving. I had to request paperwork to send to our insurance company. Ultimately they refunded the initial deposits and charged us a bit less than MXN$30,000 for the three-hour ordeal. Read the reviews. Our experience is not alone. Unfortunately this hospital has contracts with high-end hotels in Cancun. If you’re parents in our situation, you aren’t in a position to be selective u til it’s too late. If you end up here, get out and go elsewhere."
