"I had a mixed experience at Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital. My father had an eye condition, and we travelled from Malaysia to India for further evaluation. On 04/04/2026, during our first visit, we were well taken care of by Patient Care staff Jinshid, Dr Sounthari, and Dr Amit Shah. Dr Amit Shah was especially kind, very informative, and took the time to explain everything clearly. We truly appreciated his professionalism and care. He also advised that he would review the MRI scans and recommend appropriate medications for my father. We were asked to proceed with an MRI Brain and Orbit with contrast, which we completed at Aarthi Scans. Although the report was delayed by a day, the initial experience at the hospital was positive. On 05/04/2026, we returned to the hospital with the scan reports. However, Dr Amit Shah was not available that day. The receptionist, Ms Guna Sundari, informed us to return on Monday, but we were scheduled to fly back to Malaysia on Sunday. Due to this, we proceeded with consultation under another doctor. This time, we were attended by Patient Care Kumaravel S and Dr Lekha. Unfortunately, our experience during this visit was very disappointing. My sister had recorded the consultation to help explain the doctor’s advice to our doctor back in Malaysia. We understand now that this may not be allowed, and we sincerely acknowledge that this was our mistake. However, the way the situation was handled was upsetting. Dr Lekha was rude in her tone, did not allow my sister to ask questions, and did not attend to my father in a reassuring or professional manner. Patient Care Kumaravel S also spoke rudely to my sister. As patients who travelled from another country seeking help, we expected a more understanding and respectful approach, especially after we apologised. Additionally, despite being informed earlier that medications would be recommended after reviewing the scans, no clear advice or prescription was given during this visit. This added to our disappointment and concern regarding the continuity of care. We respect that different countries have different rules, but a polite explanation would have been appreciated instead of the treatment we received. That said, we would like to appreciate the kindness and professionalism of Ms Guna Sundari, PA Tulasi, and Jinshid at the registration and earlier stage. They were helpful, respectful, and made us feel comfortable. We hope the hospital can improve patient communication and ensure that all patients are treated with empathy and respect."

"My kid was suffering a lot from dust allergy, and it was very worrying for us as parents. We first visited Agarwal Eye Hospital in Nanganallur and were referred to the main branch in Alwarpet, where we consulted Dr. Mathuri. From the very first visit, she was extremely kind, patient, and reassuring. She carefully explained what the issue was, why it happened, and how it could be treated, which gave us a lot of confidence and relief. The medicines she prescribed were very effective, and after a few follow-up visits, we could clearly see a great improvement in my kid’s eye allergy. Seeing my child recover has been a huge relief for our family. We are truly grateful to Dr. Mathuri and the entire team for their care, support, and dedication. However, one part of the experience was completely unacceptable and highly disturbing. Right after the doctor examined my child, a group of interns surrounded us to observe his eyes for their learning. This was done without even the basic courtesy of informing us or asking for our consent. My child was already in pain and discomfort due to the bright examination lights, yet that did not stop them. There was zero sensitivity shown. It felt like my child was being treated as a subject for demonstration rather than a patient who had come in distress for treatment. Let me be very clear—patients are not lab subjects. We are paying significant consultation fees for proper care, not to be used for unannounced teaching sessions. This kind of approach is deeply unprofessional and unacceptable, especially when it involves a child. This incident has left a very negative impression. The hospital seriously needs to enforce strict consent protocols and ensure that patient dignity and comfort are never compromised under the name of training."
