"Unfortunately, I needed emergency surgery while in Hanoi. I was brought to The French Hospital. The medical care was wonderful. The staff were beyond helpful. They spoke English, they respond to call bottoms in less than 5 minutes. I received excellent care from the doctors to the cleaning people. The food was terrific, most times better than our local diner food. Staff smiled and provided excellent care and concern. My family was very concerned in the States. The Doctors took the time to speak to them and explain what was planned for my medical needs. I’m forever grateful to be leaving here on my own two feet to continue my recovery at home."
"Less than a month ago, I broke my ankle in Mai Chau, Vietnam. It was recommended that I go to the Hanoi French Hospital for care which I did a few days later. I still cannot believe the high quality, exceptional care I received. Within 24 hours of arriving in the Emergency Room, my multi-fractured ankle was diagnosed, follow-up exams done, met the ER doctor and my Orthopedic Surgeon, with surgery scheduled for the next morning. In less than an hour, I was comfortably settled in my hospital room with an IV in my arm meeting the surgeon for a second time as he explained the details of my upcoming surgery. Using his phone, he showed me the latest images of my ankle. Soon after the Anesthetist arrived, explaining how I would be put to sleep for the three to four hour surgery. The warm welcome I received from the nurses, aides and entire team on the surgical floor, was equally astonishing. Little did I know that it would be home for the next 7 days. No words to describe the competent, professional care I received throughout my stay. Yes as a foreigner, they verified that I had insurance and had the ability to pay when I first arrived. What was unusual however was how detailed the estimate was for the services I would receive. Two pages with a line by line listing with descriptions—the final bill was very close to the total I had been given. I was shocked that the cost could be so much lower than what it would have been in the US or Canada. But most of all, I was in awe of the quality care I received throughout. From the operating team, to the physiotherapist, the 24-hour nursing and aide staff, to housekeeping and meals, I will never forget the 7 days I spent at the Hanoi Hospital. I lived an experience that went beyond what one sees as a tourist. Credit to the Hanoi French Hospital is that my US Orthopedic surgeon back home, who is handling my post-op care, was equally positive of the professional work that was done. I have no doubt that my healing is on the right track. No doubt either that I will resume my trekking trip to Vietnam one day with perhaps a stopover to say thank you again to the medical team that took such good care of me. Most especially my wonderful surgeon, Doctor François Duroux and Doctor Erwan Dubuc, the Hospital CEO, who I had the privilege to meet, kudos for leading such an awesome hospital complex."
"I visited the French Hospital in Hanoi for dermatology because I wanted to continue my skincare treatment and also check a recent hair loss issue I’ve noticed since moving to Hanoi four months ago. ⭐️ Positives • The dermatologist (Vietnamese) and the English-speaking staff member were both kind and communicated well. • The reception staff speak basic English, which is helpful for expats. ❗️Negatives / What Really Surprised Me 1. Skin Consultation I was honestly shocked by how limited their dermatology services are. They told me they do not use any technologies or techniques to treat scars or improve skin texture. No medical peels, no CO₂ laser, none of the basic dermatology equipment that most international hospitals or clinics normally have. The examination itself was extremely basic — the doctor just looked at my skin closely and touched it. No tools, no magnifying device, no proper analysis… nothing. The only treatment they could offer for any skin concern was a basic face cream. 2. Hair Loss Consultation The doctor asked me how many hairs I lose per day, saying that “hair loss” only counts if it’s 100+ hairs. I explained that I obviously don’t sit and count them — but the visible thinning is worrying enough. They suggested a blood test (which is normal), but unlike other hospitals in Hanoi, the test was not included in the consultation fee. They asked for an additional 10 million VND, even though the possible treatments afterward would only be: • a shampoo • a spray • vitamins (No advanced options, no technologies, nothing.) I refused the test because it didn’t make sense to pay that much for such limited treatment options. 3. Cost & Waiting Time I paid over 2 million VND just for the consultation, and then waited more than an hour to receive a very basic written report. Overall, this was definitely my worst medical visit in Hanoi so far. I’ve paid much less elsewhere for far more advanced, effective, and professional care. I personally wouldn’t recommend the French Hospital for dermatology if you expect modern equipment, proper diagnostics, or impactful treatment options"
"Never felt better being white and privileged. Got an tiny fight on with an wheelchair so I broke my clavicle :/ The prices are high very high, like European nieveu, lucky my insurance pays everything. The food is great and the spa is a must visit 🔝 On my window I can see the public hospital hugh dirty place so thankfull I am on the other side. Colonalism pays always. May the old time rise again Cheer's"
