"I have had the pleasure of being here a total of around 60 days this year with my wife on 5 different occasions. I am glad to leave this review because it’s honest and not full of emotion. First I can start with saying the actual doctors here are great and top notch. Unfortunately by the time you see one you are ready for a straight jacket from the disorganization of the actual facility. To say the hospital is good is an embarrassment to people who work hard to make a hospital or any facility run properly. 5 times we have been here and 5 times they have taken over 72 hours to have the proper formulas of medication. This is due to complete laziness of the hospital culture here. It starts at the top. The people in charge do not care about the patient experience at all. They are understaffed and undertrained. Occasionally there are a few great nurses but the most are less than mediocre , lazy , gossiping and clueless on anything advanced. I can see how people can die easily here from negligence. So many outdated machines that nobody knows how to use properly. The alarms go off on anything that is IV because nobody has any idea how to calibrate or set them properly. I actually reached a tech online to find out what to do. After a year of coming here, in 45 min I found the solution. I tried to explain to them but it felt like showing a computer to animals in a zoo. Nobody could understand or care less. Again , like I said the actual medics here and surgeons are great. Dr Nieto is probably the best doctor I have met here in Colombia out of 5 years and over 20 extended stays in 4 hospitals. The renal and cardio departments have been top notch. Unfortunately the terrible communication and leadership they have managed to embarrass their whole country . This hospital is the local pride of Medellin and isn’t even worth the 2 stars I am giving and I would be embarrassed to study and dedicate my life as a doctor to a place of this standard. Definitely 3rd world and does not live up to the hype"
"Terrible Post-Surgery Care and Complete Lack of Compassion I chose Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe based on its reputation and lower costs, but no amount of savings justifies the horrendous treatment I received. Before surgery, the hospital staff seemed helpful and attentive, assuring me I’d be in good hands. However, everything changed the moment the procedure was over. Immediately after waking from anesthesia, I was pressured to get dressed and pay nearly 30% more than initially quoted—while I was still disoriented and unsteady. My physical state was completely disregarded as staff rushed me through recovery, making the entire process feel more like a business transaction than medical care. I was abandoned with inadequate bandaging that fell off within hours, left to search the internet for wound care guidance because no one from the hospital would respond to my concerns. Days passed without a single follow-up from the surgeon or the staff. Follow-up never came. When I filed a complaint, the hospital’s absurd response was to blame me for not bringing a companion to the surgery. Apparently, their idea of patient care includes expecting patients to bring someone to shield them from their own incompetent staff. Their attitude shift from friendly and reassuring before the surgery to dismissive and indifferent afterward was jarring. This hospital’s low cost is not worth it. Their focus is clearly on money, not on the patient’s health or well-being. If you value competent and compassionate care, stay far away from this place."
"Awesome hospital. The prices are low and they let you know the cost up front. Many places to eat or have coffee. ATMs are available. There are plenty of staff to help. Efficient process."
"We were recommended to visit Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe, and we’re so glad we did. Last year, we went to one of the “best” hospitals in Bogotá, but this experience was on a completely different level—it’s hard to even compare. Every single staff member we encountered was extremely polite, respectful, and attentive. The hospital is very clean, and the team truly listens and does their best to help you. A special thank you to Maria Claudia from the international office—she was amazing! So professional, kind, patient, and dedicated to making sure we had everything we needed. We also loved the small tents with local vendors—it gave the hospital a warm and lively vibe. Plus, the food court had great variety, which made things even more comfortable. We highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need of medical care in Medellín!"
"I am originally from the USA and I have lived in Medellin for 4 years. I was very impressed with the customer service at this hospital. Even though I was not checked in, they helped me find some special medication around the city that was difficult to find."
