"I went to Beond to heal from childhood trauma and a resulting crippling anxiety. My experience there was life changing. I’ve done decades of therapy and just couldn’t quite get to a place where I could move past the trauma, heal, and deal with the resulting anxiety that dominated my life. I spent some time working in an ER and so was looking for a place that would provide the medical care necessary to put me at ease and Beond delivered just that. From the moment I arrived the staff put me at ease, integrated me into a safe environment and allowed me to start the work of healing. Everything from the activities, coaching, food, accommodations, everything was not only above and beyond what I expected, but it was so thoughtful and intentional and done with care. On the medical side of things, I can’t emphasize enough how much Beond takes medical support seriously. The due diligence they do up front to make sure guests are suitable candidates for treatment put me at ease. They didn’t just have me sign up and take my money. I had to meet with screeners and a doctor on the medical team first to go over my history and any adjustments or things I’d need to consider before undergoing treatment. In the lead up to my stay, if I had questions about medications, treatments, etc. the Doctor was just an email away and was super responsive to my questions. On site, the Beond medical staff, nursing and physician support is 24/7, whatever you need. And during the Ibogaine treatment itself, you have a nurse at your bedside the entire time, and the nursing staff isn’t just checking a box and marking time, they truly do engage, support, and hold your hand when you need. Doctors are on site 24/7 and are an integral part of treatment, from checking on you, to addressing ANY and I mean ANY needs that come up with compassionate care. I was able to feel completely supported medically, so that I could do the important work within. I didn’t have to worry at any point about medical complications because I could see and talk to the medical team all the time. That’s a huge source of comfort. Outside of that, I’d say the biggest strength Beond has is its sense of community. I’ve never experience the level of kindness that I did when I was there. I’ve kept in touch with staff, owners, medical team, and guests I met while I was there. They support you in integrating back into your life with weekly calls, tools, and skills. They practice what they preach and help you get adjusted to life and its ups and downs. I know flying to Mexico for treatment can feel scary. Believe me, I know. But you’re in the safest, most loving hands at Beond. I wouldn’t go anywhere else and I’d go all over again in a heartbeat. I am forever grateful to them for changing my life."

"I finally feel ready to share my experience, almost a year after I stayed at Beond. My impression was that they were focusing on scaling more than they were focused on quality. I was one of few women clients and felt uncomfortable amongst so many men, some of which were predatory to me. The website was misleading on multiple fronts. When I arrived, I was housed in a shabby "Green House" building not advertised and told I could not switch to the serene "White House". Despite the weekly schedule listed on the website showing a flood dose and two boosters, when I arrived they were planning on giving me only one booster. I had to lobby hard to get my second. I wasn't offered a coaching session after my flood dose, and had to hunt down coaches thereafter to process what I was going through with the medicine. They also out-of-the-blue offered a different medicine, 5-meo-DMT, which was never discussed before arrival nor intentioned for. The grounds were not designed to be accessible to those with disabilities, for example there are no ramps for wheelchair or cane users. The onboarding emails and in-person intake processes were chaotic and confusing, and it was not designed for someone with cognitive issues. I lost items that were important to me after they completely reorganized my suitcase. I had to ask daily to have the flashing pool lights turned off, as I have a seizure risk, and the rotating staff members didn't know how to change the settings. Their lack of accessibility was shocking because TBI is perhaps the most highly studied indication for ibogaine. Most harmful was that when I was on the medicine, I was emotionally manipulated by staff who were following rigid protocols that didn't make sense contextually, which reinstated my trust issues and was a distraction from deeper work. Despite them telling me constantly "anything at all to make you comfortable!!" the policies are designed around what's convenient to staff. After I left, it took me 10 follow-ups with 5 different people and 24 days to get access to my medical records. I do want to credit that there were some fantastic, wise staff members. They also let me postpone my dates when I needed a surgery, without penalty. Ibogaine gets 1 million gold stars, my goodness what it did for me! But overall I would not refer my community to Beond."
