"We spent one night in the pediatric ward of Luz Lisboa and were deeply disappointed with the quality of care — especially considering it’s a private clinic. We were admitted unexpectedly and specifically asked in advance about the availability of our baby’s formula and necessary supplies. We were assured that everything was available. In reality, we waited two hours for a room, and once we were finally admitted at 10 PM, we were told that the formula we needed wasn’t available. We were given a different one that didn’t suit our baby, and the nipples provided were only one size — our baby couldn’t feed at all. We were given only two diapers at a time we asked, no wipes or cloths for cleaning, and no extra linens. Yes, the room was private with a nice view, but behind that door there was a total lack of attention: no one checked in for two hours after admission. The doctor came only at 11AM the next day. The accompanying parent was given just a towel, soap in the bathroom had run out, and the hand sanitizer in the room was empty. Not all staff members spoke English, which made communication difficult. Even when IV medication finished and the machine beeped loudly, no one came — unless we pressed the call button. We already had experience in public hospital, that’s why we requested to go to the public hospital, Dona Estefânia. While the conditions there were more modest, the level of medical care and staff attentiveness was far superior. For a clinic of this level and price, this kind of disorganization and lack of care is unacceptable. It’s unfortunate to experience such a dismissive approach at such a critical moment."
