"I had my bariatric surgery with Dr. Ibrahim Karataş on February 27, 2026, at Medicana Hospital in Istanbul, and my experience was absolutely fantastic. Dr. Karataş is a very kind, warm, and humble person who makes you feel comfortable and confident from the very beginning. The entire process was smooth, professional, and very well organised. I felt supported every step of the way. I have lost 26 kg in just two months and I am still progressing steadily. The package was also very affordable and included everything from pre-operative tests to accommodation, transfers, and post-operative care. I only needed to arrange my flights. I highly recommend Dr. Karataş to anyone considering bariatric surgery."
"DO NOT GO NEAR THIS HOSPITAL!!! I went to this hospital for a mummy make over. I was promised the world and my reality is hell. 8 months have passed and I’m in extreme pain every single day. I have nerve damage. My scar is so painful. My hips are a disaster. Then there’s the nurses, they made fun of me, mocked me. Laughed at me, called me names called me a drama queen when I was crying one day after surgery the pain was just unbelievable. None of them speak enough English to understand what your saying to them and can’t understand what your asking them it was terrifying. My partner had to fly out, he had to download a translator app to talk to them. I wasn’t able to move at all my hands were swole up to the point I thought they were gonna explode and I kept asking was in normal and okay and they all kept talking to one another in their own language and I was freaking out. My arms swole so bad the drip came out of my arm and they couldn’t get it back in for over 8 hours and this is a day or two after major surgery I was in extreme pain, they were trying to put it in my foot and just couldn’t. They kept bringing more and more nurses into my room who kept trying to get the drip back in. Two of the nurses pulled me very roughly out of the bed and shouted at me “you walk” “drama queen” and made me walk around the ward. Now keep in mind I was nude from the waist down and they pulled me round that wards with everything on show while I was crying in convulsions, I was mortified, in agony and there was hospital visitors just walking about the ward and saw me nude from the waist down. The nurses are absolutely horrible. The day after my surgery the surgeon took off on a conference and wasnt coming back until the day after I was due to leave. So I was meant to leave on a Monday but had no other choice but to stay to the Tuesday because the surgeon had to remove my drains, the hospital tried to charge me £700+ for that one extra nights stay which was out of my control seeing as their surgeon took off!! He said one of my colleagues will come in and check on you, a big man walked into my room and said you okay? And then turned and walked out, he wasn’t in my room 10 seconds, didn’t check my wounds, nothing at all. My own surgeon didn’t come in until two hours before I was due to leave for the airport and I was soaking in the taxi, in the airport, on the plane. I have never been so embarrassed in my life walking about just leaking fluid from the drain holes. I was in the bathroom in the airport stuffing my trousers with women’s sanitary pads and toilet paper and small towels, so when I had to go through security I had to remove all this as airport staff were suspicious about all the padding round my stomach and I’m not surprised so I was mortified in the airport having to remove all this in front of hundreds of people. Terrible experience. Also hospital food is absolutely disgusting especially for international patients you physically could not eat this food. So I lived of chips and eggs from the cafe, but all I did was throw up, I was asking for anti sickness medicine and they told me they were giving me anti sickness but I don’t think they were cause I was sick and nauseous every single day. When I returned home, my belly button didn’t look very good I kept providing pictures to the hospital representative for the surgeon and they told me NUMEROUS times that it was fine, everything was normal. I didn’t agree with this and finally went to my doctor at home and they really panicked when they saw me, I was weeks away from an extremely severe situation. I was on antibiotics for 6+ months. Sick everyday, migraines everyday, couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep. It had been absolutely brutal. I would not wish this on my worse enemy. I’m still recovering but the pain is unreal. I have been told that I have nerve damage, I live on pain killers every single day, antispasmodic medications. I will never get over this. I still have nightmares and wake up sweating. My doctors name was Ali Kaan Memiş."
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the entire International Patient Department at Medicana Beylikdüzü for the exceptional care, professionalism, kindness, and support shown to me throughout my recent visits. From the very beginning, every member of the team treated me with respect, compassion, and genuine concern. Navigating medical care while facing health challenges can be overwhelming, but the staff made every step feel easier through their patience, efficiency, and warm approach. The professionalism of the department is truly outstanding. Communication was clear, assistance was always given promptly, and I felt supported at every stage of the process. What stood out most was the human kindness shown by the team — something that means so much during difficult times. I would especially like to thank the department for creating an environment where international patients feel welcomed, cared for, and understood. Medicana Beylikdüzü is fortunate to have such a dedicated team representing the hospital with excellence and heart. Thank you all for your continued support and for the wonderful care you provide every day."
"We had a very positive experience at the Medicana International Istanbul Hospital. Our daughter was treated in an extremely professional and thorough manner throughout her stay. The nursing staff were highly attentive, compassionate, and clearly well-trained. We were especially impressed by Dr. Sıdıka Önver, who treated our daughter according to the highest international standards. From the very beginning, we felt that our daughter was in safe and capable hands. The level of care, communication, and organization gave us a great sense of reassurance during a stressful time. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Ömer Hüseyin. He truly understood our concerns and needs, and his support was invaluable. Thanks to his excellent translation and coordination, we were always connected with the right medical professionals and fully informed about every step. Overall, we can highly recommend this hospital to anyone seeking high-quality medical care in Istanbul."
"I had a very positive experience at this hospital in Istanbul. Everything was arranged smoothly from start to finish, and the hospital is clean, professional, and well organized. The staff are kind and patient, and having many translators available made communication very easy. Special thanks to Dr. Murat Koc for his excellent care in gynecology. Also, a big thank you to Mr. Ameen from the International Relations Office for being so helpful and supportive, and for arranging the free airport transportation to and from the hospital. I highly recommend this hospital."
