"We are extremely thankful to have found this hospital during a medical emergency my mother had during our trip to Athens. She spent two weeks and had two major surgeries. Doctors, nurses and all medical staff went out of their way to care for her, the stay was perfect, she recovered well and as a result of our stay at the hospital she simply loves Greece (even though we did not get time to see much more). Fully recommended."

"Our daughter had a medical emergency during our vacation in Greece, and we had to fly from Mykonos to Athens for an urgent surgery. From the moment we arrived at Mediterraneo Hospital, we felt at ease, supported by the entire staff. Our daughter was treated by Dr. Mourkas whom we are eternally grateful for saving her life! The entire staff at the hospital is extremely nice, professional and speaks great English! She had to stay at the hospital for a few days, and the staff helped us find a hotel to stay nearby. We could visit her daily and speak with the doctor about her progress. At the time of discharge, we were given detailed instructions and paperwork in English on what needed to be done next, and all necessary paperwork for our insurance and doctors here in the United States. We cannot thank the doctors and all the nurses at Mediterraneo Hospital for the exceptional care they provided to our daughter!"

"My husband and I were on a cruise. My husband suddenly had a massive heart attack, we were taken off the ship and taken to this clinic. A stenting operation was performed immediately. At our request, they helped organize a stay in a municipal hospital after the operation. At the same time, they called every day and asked about my husband's condition. We safely flew to Ukraine and continue treatment here. Thank you all, you are the best."

"The public hospital in Greece is definitely better than this one. The way they operate with payments is really outrageous. Each doctor has an envelope that you need to hand over without any manner. It seems like a cake and each one has his part. The doctor, the anesthesiologist and the hospital accounting department which closes early. Also the staff is formed by juniors that can’t accomplish any task. To go to the toilet after the surgery, they tell you that a nurse will come and help. 45 min after, no one came, so I had to go alone. Later the nurse arrived and was surprised when I informed him that I already went alone. From a sanitary/hygiene perspective, no gloves were used at any moment of the procedure before and after the surgery. You would see the colored nails, cleaning your scar, inserting the needle and then removing it. Also, no proper document stating what medicine I usually take before heading to the surgery. I was asked by one of the staff if I have signed, before the surgery, on a paper that lists the drugs I use and I told her no. How can this part be skipped? On another note, I came to the hospital at 8am and had a surgery scheduled from 12 to 2pm, not even a cup of water or a snack was offered before my exit at 6 pm although I was allowed to eat and drink. Simply unprofessional!"

"I was taken to this hospital by ambulance after being transferred from Ios and only realised on arrival that it was a private hospital. While extremely unwell, I repeatedly asked the reception staff how much it would cost to stay, as I needed to understand my options. Initially, staff avoided giving a clear answer and were very vague. After persisting several times, I was eventually told it would be around €2,000 per night. At no point were costs explained clearly upfront. Once it became apparent that I may not be able to afford this, staff seemed uninterested in providing further information or assistance. The ambulance journey, which took approximately 25 minutes, cost €300, and I also had a very brief check-up. Given the costs involved and the lack of transparency, I chose to discharge myself and went instead to a public hospital in Athens. Overall, I found the hospital extremely overpriced, and the attitude from both reception staff and doctors to be rude and dismissive. Clear communication and transparency are essential when patients are vulnerable, and this was missing during my experience."
