"I underwent a lumbar puncture at Rela Hospital on 23 May as part of my treatment for Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH). Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. During preparation, an IV line was inserted in my left hand, but staff later realized that blood samples had not been collected. A second needle insertion was then required in my right hand for blood collection. This gave me the impression that there was a lack of coordination among the staff. After the lumbar puncture procedure, I was transferred back to the daycare area. However, due to a communication issue, staff near the ICU informed my caregivers that I was still inside the procedure area. As a result, they waited for approximately 1.5 hours while I was alone in the daycare unit and unable to move comfortably following the procedure. The most concerning issue has been the delay in receiving my pathology/laboratory report. More than 10 days after the procedure, I still have not received the report despite multiple follow-ups. Initially, hospital staff appeared unsure about the status of the report. After considerable effort, I was connected with a neuro coordinator, who sent me a lumbar puncture procedure note instead of the laboratory report. The document did not appear to be an official report and did not help address my concern. As an IIH patient, these results are important for ongoing treatment decisions by my ophthalmologist and neurologist. The lack of timely communication and delays in providing the report have caused significant stress and uncertainty. I hope the hospital improves its coordination, communication, and report management processes so that future patients do not face similar difficulties."
