"First, what went well: the premises and the room are modern and spotlessly clean. The room was very comfortable, and the view of the garden incredibly soothing :) All the medical staff were kind, friendly, and professional. And most importantly, the surgery went smoothly, and I felt safe and in good hands, which made a world of difference! However, in some ways, Rudolfinerhouse also disappointed: - The admission procedure was bumpier and less professional than I would have expected from a private hospital. At one point, I was asked to put my signature next to the price for a room that was 100 euro more than what the cost estimate said. When I raised questions, I was repeatedly told that "insurance will pay" and "you need to sign." Only when I insisted, the staff member clarified with a colleague that the price difference was due to the added tax. Fair enough, but the initial reaction was simply not acceptable. - After the admission, at least 2 nurses asked about my dietary restrictions. I said I don't eat red meat, only poultry and fish. I was then asked to choose meals from a deliciously looking menu. I wondered what I would be able to eat after surgery, but the staff member didn't speak much English to advise. When I was brought to my room after the surgery, I was served a beef soup. When I protested I was told that because I had a surgery (apparently an unexpected turn of events) I actually can't eat the meals I had previously chosen and the beef soup is the only soup available. If I want another soup, I'd need to pay extra. Why make a point of offering individualised catering only to then serve a hungry patient the one thing they said they don't eat? Surely, it should be possible to coordinate between treatment and catering to avoid such situations. - No clarity re. discharge procedure. I expected someone to sit down with me and explain when do I need to leave, what happens with the bill, how to treat the wounds, how to prevent thrombosis (or at least to give me a leaflet), what symptoms to look for etc. Nothing. After I somehow managed to communicate to a non-English speaking nurse that I was leaving that day, another nurse brought me a folder with documents and left. Ironically, the first document said, "the patient has been informed about the discharge procedure." I had to then pull information from the nurse about what to do with the plasters & medication I found in the folder, about thrombosis, etc. But her English was not fluent, so although she was kind, I didn't feel reassured. It felt like I could have just walked out of the hospital, and nobody would notice or care."
"I had an amazing experience in the hospital. The staff was incredible. I don't speak German but everyone I've been in contact with spoke English. Everyone was so nice, friendly, attentive and professional. (Extra shout out to Selina for being so friendly and making me feel comfortable from the beginning). Huge thank you for all the doctors, nurses and health care professionals for taking such a good care of me. :) Ps. The food was very good too."
"Just back home after the delivery of our newborn. We spent 5 days at hospital after a C section, and the whole team made the entrance in this new life a real moment of happiness. The availability, the professionalism, the dedication are common traits at Rudolfiner. Regarding the ope itself, was like a change of wheels in formula 1! Thanks everyone!"
"I Never saw in all my life a Horror movie like that. The hospital is just a trash and the worst hospital that I saw in all my life. First, they are completely incompetent about everything. I was there in September feeling a lot of pain in belly and the trash reception send me to a lot of wrong places. Just a messy completely and without any organization. After this I make appointment for do a gynecology ultrasound and they make appointment for my belly because they thought that was the same. Just a really stupid mistake and serious since that completely different exam. The second point is this trash hospital doesn’t have or exist patient area and when a person go there and do one exam you need sign a to of paper and give a password for them and wait one of the nurses have time for send for you. Not only this they always send with a wrong password and makes with you call them many and many times and worst they sent wrong exam too. Sincerely that a hospital that will kill someone, they don’t know to do anything, they don’t care, they make appointment for wrong exams, send wrong results , doesn’t have any patients area. The hospital is just a horror movie that will kill some patients. Not only this they are incredibly rude and stop in 1700, because they don’t have any technology or anything. Everything that they use is old and the professionals are really bad. I give many and many chances and the hospital show me that they are so bad and incompetent that better close or will kill a lot of people. Until for the payment they give to you something to pay that you never did and belongs another patient."
"The midwife Maria Salsi-Thum was absolutely essential to the health of our two children. The entire experience was overwhelmingly positive, from the very first conversation before the birth (Vorsprechen) to the guidance and support she offered in the postpartum period. Her care was truly human and compassionate. She was always willing to help, focusing on the baby’s health without ever forgetting the parents’ well-being. I will never forget that during our very first conversation, she asked whether I wanted to breastfeed and assured me that, if that was my wish, she would be there to support me. And she truly was. She helped me identify better ways to breastfeed, both in terms of the baby’s latch and my own posture. I will also never forget when, months later, my first daughter was already seven months old, and I suddenly had a breast issue. Even though she was on vacation, she answered my call and guided me through what to do. Knowing that I could count on Maria Salsi-Thum made both my pregnancy and postpartum period feel much more supported and at ease. Her dedication, empathy, and professionalism made all the difference for our family. I couldn’t be more grateful."
