"Got a call from a “debt collection company representing SMG” claiming that I owed them money for one-off tele-consultation service I used a year ago. The caller was able to accurately name the amount of money and service provided. Weird because I definitely did pay up immediately back then (have a credit card statement and receipt in app). Asked for a Statement of Account, and there never was a follow-up. Anyway, no idea where it went wrong, but it wasn’t a cool experience. Even if your patients didn’t pay up (I definitely did), wouldn’t there be at least a reminder before sending a debt-collection company after them?"

"The corporate branding of this regional medical group engenders potent psychological expectations that regrettably render the entire experience akin to a mere sightseeing tour rather than a sincere exercise in medical care. The meticulously crafted image and carefully orchestrated messaging cultivate an anticipatory mood that primes patients for an impressive, flawlessly choreographed encounter. Yet, when confronted with hurried consultations and a conspicuous absence of substantive engagement, the reality feels hollow and superficial, more theatrical performance than genuine patient care. While the frontline staff visibly endeavor to perform admirably, the grandiose, staged vision promulgated by the branding is medically untenable. This is neither a zoological garden nor Gardens by the Bay, venues where spectacle can be meticulously controlled and perfected. The practice of medicine demands authentic interaction, time, and delicate attentiveness - attributes that no amount of marketing finesse can fabricate. Compounding this disillusionment is the erratic and inflated pricing structure, seemingly aligned with exorbitant tourist tariffs rather than equitable, patient-focused care. This exacerbates the sense of grievance, wherein patients feel not only disregarded but also unduly charged for what ultimately manifests as a superficial and contrived experience. The chasm between the emotive allure embedded in the branding and the tangible reality renders the patient journey perfunctory, as if one were guided through an elaborate tableau rather than granted the individualized attention warranted by their condition. The psychological toll of this discord is profound; It erodes trust and fosters frustration, leaving patients marginalized as mere onlookers rather than engaged participants in their own healthcare. Until this institution aligns its promotional narrative with authentic, patient-centric care, this illusory “sightseeing tour” experience will endure, perpetuating the erosion of patient confidence and diluting the fundamental mission of healthcare itself."
