"It's awful. Walking from place to place JUST TO PAY FOR A PAPER, or infact do anything it's just awful; 10 different buildings for god knows why, every single one 20min away, if someone would be at the edge of dying I'm sure they already would, since even if u would tell them it's an emergency, they would tell u oh well sorry. Another building is there u need to go there. Like hello???? Def don't recommend. Especially if ur there first time ur gonna get LOST no matter if u have the map."

"Extremely negative experience at the Emergency Department of St. Anne’s Hospital in Brno. I went there on the night of Christmas Eve with a very severe cough, strong chest pain that had been getting worse, and a swollen tongue. At the reception desk I was met by three staff members who were completely indifferent. After I explained my symptoms, they literally shrugged their shoulders, as if to say that it made no sense for me to be there. Only after I insisted did they ask for my documents. I am an Italian citizen living in the UK and I hold a UK health insurance card that covers emergency treatment abroad, yet I was told in an arrogant and dismissive manner that I needed Czech insurance or would have to pay. Paying was not the issue — the issue was the rude, disrespectful and totally lacking empathy way I was treated. I understand it was the night of December 24th, but I wasn’t there by choice either. I was there because I was unwell and needed medical help. In the end I left and went to Úrazová nemocnice, where the staff were kind, professional and humane. An emergency department should never make a patient feel like a burden or an inconvenience. A truly shocking and disappointing experience."

"Had the worst experience at the emergency department of urology. I went there because I'm in pain and needed help. The nurses at the department were so indifferent. They demanded me to understand Czech cuz this is Czech. But I'm an international student, not living for too long here. I had to explain my symptoms with google translate. They asked me for my ID and a few minutes later, the doctor came in. And told me this is not emergency because I didn't come in an ambulance. Also said it wasn't a business hour. Quite weird for a hospital that runs 24/7. He said he would examine me and didn't even properly check and dismissed me by saying it wasn't an emergency. If they don't want to deal with patients who need help, don't be nurses or doctors. They should quit their jobs and just stay at home."

"Foreigners know how difficult it can be to schedule appointments in the Czech Republic, as well as to receive a properly medical treatment. Today, I am leaving this testimonial because I have nothing but praise. I needed to see an endocrinologist and have a thyroid biopsy because of a nodule. After calling two clinics and not being treated very well because I do not speak Czech, I emailed the Endocrinology Department at St. Anne’s Hospital and received a prompt reply from Dr. Petr, who recommended that I come in for a consultation. On the day of the appointment, the receptionists did not speak English, but they were very kind and did their best to help me, always with smiles on their faces. They made me feel welcome. I have no words to describe Dr. Petr Janota, he is an excellent doctor. He treated me extremely well and explained all the procedures in detail. Congratulations, Dr. Petr. All doctors in the Czech Republic could learn from you how to provide a truly high-quality consultation. After the consultation, I went to have my blood drawn by the nurses. They also did not speak English, but they were extremely kind. Joking and smiling, I told them that my Czech was very limited — “Moje čeština není moc dobrá” — and that I could only say a few words. They smiled and seemed happy that I was trying. The nurse who drew my blood was excellent, and I did not feel any pain at all. Congratulations to the Endocrinology Department at St. Anne’s Hospital. Thank you."

"Went on weekday morning to emergency department opposite to cafe. Good, seemless and clean area. Adding photos of emergency department (closer from Hybešova tram stop - there is an entrance ) for anyone looking for emergency department"
