"I highly recommend Stop Obesity. Dr Cabrera and his team were highly professional. The hotel was nice the hospital was nice. I am so glad I went through this program and I think you will too!"
"5 Stars-A++++ Tijuana Bariatrics has helped me through my sleeve journey and I could not be happier that I chose them for my weight loss transformation. Currently I am about a week post-op and couldn't be happier that I chose to make the journey to Tijuana. Eduardo and my surgeon, Dr. JP Fernandez were incredible along the journey. From the initial phone call to the post-op care, I would definitely suggest them to my friends and family as they cared for me with respect and dignity. The first day we arrived late as Southwest Airlines had a later flight. The team at Tijuana Bariatrics were so helpful that they even arranged a private driver to pick me up from the San Diego airport and take us to the hotel for the night The second day was surgery day. We arrived at the hospital and they prepped me for a blood test as well as the surgery. Dr. JP Fernandez was insightful and caring during the process. He explained everything and reassured me about everything. The third and fourth days were for recovery and rest. I would recommend that you be mindful of timing as the border coming back to the US can be unpredictable. However, the team at Tijuana Bariatrics assisted with everything. I highly recommend Tijuana Bariatrics for your weight loss journey. They are respectful, caring, and uphold the same quality of care that one would expect if it was in the United States. If you are on the fence or are thinking about weight loss surgery, I would challenge you to contact them. You won't regret it."
"Beautiful, clean facility, SUPER friendly staff. Everyone appeared to be knowledgeable. Security out front. My only issues were that I felt my pain wasn't always managed in a timely manner, the cafeteria closed way too early for my husband, and I was suprised at how little English the nurses knew. Thank God for Google Translate."
"My experience with Tijuana Bariatrics. Located at Blue Hospital & Medical Tower, has been extremely distressing. I feel it is important to share what my family has gone through so others can make informed decisions. My two daughters underwent bariatric surgery on April 9, 2026. Both surgeries were scheduled back-to-back the same day—one had a gastric sleeve and my older daughter had a gastric bypass. We were discharged on April 11, 2026. Since then, we have been dealing with serious complications and a complete lack of communication and follow-up care. Immediately after surgery, my daughter who had the gastric sleeve began experiencing severe, constant pain on the right side under her esophagus. This was not normal discomfort—it was intense and persistent. Despite repeatedly expressing her pain, the nurses and medical staff consistently dismissed it as gas and told her to walk to relieve it. The surgeon who performed her procedure, Dr. Juan Pedro Fernández, only saw her once after surgery. He also attributed her pain to gas and did not perform any further evaluation or testing to rule out serious complications. No imaging or diagnostics were done during our two-night stay, even though her pain never improved. The same day we returned to Houston, I had to rush her to the hospital immediately after landing. There, doctors discovered she had an ulcer and internal bleeding—something that had been completely overlooked. She was admitted right away and required emergency surgery the same day. Unfortunately, my older daughter, who had the gastric bypass, is now also experiencing severe pain related to what doctors suspect may be an intestinal blockage. Once again, we are facing serious post-surgical complications. Communication throughout this entire process has been unacceptable. I was personally told by Dr. Juan Pedro Fernández that he would contact me directly after each of my daughters’ procedures and provide updates. However, that never happened. Despite being told I would be contacted and kept informed, we were left without updates, with repeated delays when asking staff, and no proactive communication during critical moments. Instead of being informed, I had to constantly ask for information just to understand what was happening with my daughters. This lack of communication added unnecessary fear and stress during an already serious medical situation. We were also promised surgical videos and photos, which are essential for follow-up care with doctors in the United States. To this day, we have not received anything. Additionally, Dr. Lilia Garayzar personally told me she would send the videos and that we could contact her if needed. However, after returning home, both my older daughter (the gastric bypass patient) and I sent multiple emails requesting information. Instead of responding, she blocked my daughter completely and has ignored all of my messages. Because these procedures were performed in Mexico, it has made the situation even more frustrating. It feels like once we left the facility, there was no accountability or follow-up responsibility. Despite serious complications, our attempts to get answers have been ignored, leaving us feeling abandoned during a critical time. I want to acknowledge that the staff were kind and polite. However, kindness does not replace proper medical care, thorough evaluation, or accountability. When a patient repeatedly reports severe pain after surgery, it should never be dismissed without proper investigation. All of these events—from complications to lack of communication—have occurred since our surgeries on April 9, 2026, and discharge on April 11, 2026. We are still dealing with the consequences and waiting for answers that have never come. Based on our experience, I cannot and will Not recommend Tijuana Bariatrics. Patient safety, communication, and accountability should always come first, and unfortunately, that was not our experience. Nydia Vargas"
"Dr. JP changed my life. I’m abel to work out without pain, feel good in the clothes that I’m wearing, I’m healthier and happier. Everything was wonderful! I have recommended him to several friends and I am so happy that I had the courage to go through with the surgery. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made."
