"I have been admitted here on the 6th floor for almost a week now, possibly just been hit with a diagnoses I've been waiting years for an answer for and I've been on an emotional roller-coaster for the last 24 hours as well. I just want to give a HUGE shoutout to the nurses Jenn and Tenzin! Not only have they treated me like a patient but also like an actual human being when they saw I was struggling emotionally! The care and compassion these two wonderful ladies show should NOT go unrecognized! Unfortunately been in and out of hospital a lot and first time here being admitted and this may be the only hospital I come to from here on out! Much love to Toronto Western Hospital and their hard working staff! ❤️"

"If I was only speaking about the amazing doctors and nurses I have encountered here then I would give 5 stars. The overall is affected because of how administration in the Neurosurgery department treated me years ago. (No, I will not ever let it go. It was dehumanizing) I come here because I have endocrinological issues due to a pituitary tumor which also requires me to have a VP shunt. So I see a few specialists here for that. Several years ago, for whatever reason, no matter how I tried and begged with the desk staff on the phone, no one ever returned my calls. All I wanted to do was keep on top of my health after a tumultuous shift in my life that displaced things. I just needed a little bit of empathy shown and maybe some guidance to make sure everything was okay with my health. I would call, ask for an MRI booking, appointment with the doctor or ANYTHING I could do to get my biannual MRIs booked. I was making that effort and asked for no favors. I am required to have this brain tumor monitored. No one was getting back to me. The same clerk would answer my calls every few days and always assure me she would look into it and get back to me. Or get another department to call me. No one EVER called me. But I kept up with it. I eventually took someone's advice and called the Ombudsman. He called and proceeded to gaslight me and tell me how "It can be hard once you become an adult to navigate and advocate for your own health." It was MY fault apparently that no one was answering my calls or returning them because I was no longer going to Sick Kids where they booked everything for you. I was in my early thirties and knew I had to call myself. What an unhelpful call. At least he got back to me I guess. Shame on whoever was in charge of those things at the time."

"My boyfriend injured his knee and was rushed to the emergency room. He was kept there overnight while they ran tests and we were told he would receive an MRI. The next morning, we were informed there was no availability and he was sent home in a brace with crutches. We were told the hospital would contact us that same week to schedule the MRI. We never received a call. When we followed up ourselves, we were told the MRI request had been cancelled when he was discharged from the ER — something no one informed us about. We were then told the earliest available appointment was in May, despite the injury happening in January. After pushing for an earlier appointment, we were finally able to get the MRI moved up. Unfortunately, the scan did not even cover the correct area of his leg. Now he is left waiting yet again, still in significant pain and without clear answers about his injury. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The lack of communication, delays in care, and errors in imaging have prolonged his pain and recovery. We expected better coordination and follow-through, especially given the severity of his injury."

"I had surgery a week ago. I was checked in with efficiency, kindness and professionalism. I hope I get the names right throughout but D-Rhonda, Sarah were great pre-op admissions and getting me to surgical team on time and being positive. In the next area, the folks who took my blood were friendly and warm, we joked around a little bit really relaxing me. Off to surgical O.R. Everyone in the O.R. Introduced themselves and told me what they do, very friendly and professional. Totally kept me calm and relax. Anesthesia administered and I woke up in Recovery. Feeling ok, no nausea, no pain yet. Jenna worked with me, waking me up and then dealing with my EKG monitor, with me throwing p waves and being AFib. Was in recovery a little longer then expected, due to my issues though it was normal. I was finally taken to my room where I met my care nurse Alexandra. Super nice, polite, friendly, very welcoming and giving me explanations for all my questions. The night shift nurse Rosie came on at 7:30pm and was just as nice. I was moved at midnight to the cardiac care floor as my AFib wasn’t stopping. My nurses on cardiac care were Yuma and Tanzen, again both very friendly and professional as they went through my vitals and explained my questions to me. These folks were with me until discharge later that day (5:00pm) was sent home was sorry to go as these people made my surgery and stay all the better. Was very impressed. Dr. Okrainec was excellent for my whole stay as well as the two other Doctors on his team (I forget their names, one female and one male, sorry) overall a solid 5 stars, if I had to say anything negative, I didn’t really want to walk through the food court on the way out but it’s how I had to leave to get to the parking. 😬😂. Best care anywhere!"

"I was in at this hospital today at around 2:30 pm and I was very impressed and grateful for how they handled me and how they operate! I had a severe asthma attack and brought myself in to the hospital after not having able to breath properly for many hours. Once I entered, the front desk was extremely helpful in checking me in, to triage, tests, puffers, amazing nurses, doctor and had an x-ray. All of this happen in about 4 hours and I was extremely grateful to have come out with medicine, feeling much better and they practically saved me. I appreciate all the kindness and support from each staff and how they made me feel so taken care of. I thank you all for the 10/10 hospital experience."
